Exploring Urban Treasures
Through Green Trails

"For the past two decades, HK
Electric and The Conservancy
Association (CA) have jointly
organised the "Green Hong Kong
Green" (GHKG) eco-tour
programme.
This year, the programme enters
a new chapter with the debut of
KiKi, a curious new mascot who
leads participants beyond leafy
trails into Hong Kong Island's
neighbourhoods, uncovering the
stories, heritage and human
connections that define the
city's communities."

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

"Moonlight Over HK:
Twin
Towers Reflecting the Bright Moon
Tonight the moonlight is so
bright and full, our Moon Sister
will give it her all.
During the Mid-Autumn
Festival the HK Electric buddies
are all sticking to their posts,
giving it their all!
Whether you're chasing the moon
by the seaside, having a meal at
home, or busy taking 100 moon
photos, we'll quietly keep the
power running, protecting
everyone's reunion moments,
keeping every little
get-together brightly lit!
Wishing everyone a Happy
Mid-Autumn Festival!

Farewell to the Magical Spinney
Thing!

R.I.P. Lamma Winds:
This solar windturbine
from a YSW Main Street shop is
just a cute memory now on my
kitchen windowsill, spinning
forever more (as long as there's
direct sunlight on the solar
cells)...
Dozens of Lamma-zine stories and
so many photos from planning to
dismantling over 20+ years:

The Festival Runs on Volunteers
"Lamma Fun Day is entirely run
by volunteers to raise money for
Child Welfare Scheme Hong Kong
(CWS HK) projects in
Nepal.
We are always looking for
volunteers over the festival
weekend to ensure things run
smoothly, including setup/take
down, manning the stalls,
working the bar, or marshalling
for Lamma8. If you are
interested in getting involved,
please click below to register!"

Mai Po Nature Reserve Tour

Visiting Mai Po, finally, after
seeing so many bird photos taken there by
Lamma Birds
photographers over many years.
Sep 20:
Jaybird Fundraiser

"Help our much-loved
Jaybird Lamma get
back on its feet!"
What I like very much about this
fundraiser is that several
restaurants (see below) on the
same YSW Main Street, supposedly
direct "competitors", are
supporting this fundraiser. This
will be a real Lamma Community
event in the true Lamma Spirit!
Give generously!

A blast from the past, hundreds
of weeks ago, my most popular pictures on

We Love the Tsui Wah Ferry!

Happy Birthday to
Monita Tsui Wah Ferry!
Thank you for all your work from
your happy passengers!
A few of my favourite photos I
took of their ferry arriving at
the former 'adventurous' Pak Kok
pier. A new, safer pier (see
above) has been completed and
opened just a few years ago.

From Sunrise to Sunset

Wishing you a great day, early
risers on the 6:40am ferry to
town!
Sadly, best-sunsets season is
coming to an end soon:

My historic hiking/biking trip
exactly 10 years ago, Sep 16,
2016.
Not much has changed since I
took all these pictures, but my
knees and balance won't support
a trip like this anymore,
unfortunately...

Mooncakes, Music & Mischief

The Mid-Autumn Festival holiday
is coming up on Sep 25.
To give you some impression of
the recent
Festival Carnival in the
YSW Football Pitch
(Sep 12, 2026), here's
my photo gallery from 2011 of
this yearly local highlight
event:

This is one of my favourite
Lammaite photos I've ever taken,
the YSW Curs band (formerly Yung
Shue Wankers). They're still
performing live all over HK,
next at
Lamma Fun Day on Nov 14!
In 2011, they were pretending to
be so happy to receive the
little flag from our local
officials for performing at the
Carnival. My photo was inspiring
me to create these Deep Dream
close-up versions:

'G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S.'

David Ogg: "G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S.
Slow trail cruising, lovely
morning light, a touch of
snail-paced magic, and plenty of
love for the trail.
Even though there was some haze
in the morning, it still had a
feeling of enchanted beauty in
so many areas. Made me feel like
I was waking up to a new island
all over again.
Turned what should have been a
quick ride to SKW into a series
of endless stops just to soak it
all in (and snap a few photos,
of course!)."

'POWER Through the Eyes of
AI'

HK
Electric:
"Recently, a
netizen shared an AI prompt on
social media that can cleverly
incorporate illustrations into
text!
Naturally, our editorial
team keeps up with the times and
is keen to learn alongside you
all, so we tweaked the prompt
slightly to try and generate an
AI image featuring 'Lamma Power
Station + POWER'.
'POWER' doesn't just represent
electricity; it also symbolises
the force driving Hong Kong's
sustainable development! The
image cleverly incorporates
elements of the Lamma Power
Station, capturing a snapshot of
Hong Kong Electric's
operations."

HK Electric Volunteer Team

"In 2004, following a
reorganisation, the HK
Electric Volunteer Team
had around 600 members. They
went out into the community to
carry out electrical safety
checks in the homes of elderly
people living alone, using their
professional expertise to
safeguard the daily lives of
local residents and bring them
peace of mind and warmth.
Today, the HK Electric Volunteer
Team has grown to over 1,100
members. As well as continuing
to apply their electrical
expertise and care for
vulnerable groups, HK Electric
volunteers also actively
participate in cultural heritage
preservation, environmental
protection, sporting events and
various community services,
totalling 4,849 hours of service
in 2025."
